The Bilt Grup Website
Translating Precision and Strength into a Digital Experience
1. The Design Process: Architecture Meets Brutalism
Bilt Grup is a multidisciplinary firm that spans both architecture and construction—a rare and powerful combination that allows them to take a project from idea to execution, all under one roof. Capturing that end-to-end capability was a key priority in our design process. It had to be clear, compelling, and instantly recognizable to every visitor.
Design Inspiration
To reflect this identity, we combined two strong design languages:
Swiss design, with its emphasis on typographic clarity and structured grids, to speak to the precision of architecture
Brutalism, using large imagery, harsh contrast, and concrete textures, to invoke images of the raw nature of construction
The result is a website that feels both refined and raw, balanced yet bold—just like Bilt Grup’s work.
The Process
We used Figma to create a series of design proposals exploring different visual directions. After a few review rounds with the client, we landed on a concept that effectively communicates their dual expertise. From there, we worked collaboratively, iterating on layout, spacing, imagery, and typography until we reached the final approved design.
2. The Implementation: A Stack That Serves the Vision
Choosing the right tech stack wasn’t just a matter of preference—it was driven by clear, measurable goals. The final solution needed to be:
- SEO-friendly, to ensure high visibility on search engines
- Responsive, providing a flawless experience across devices
- Fast, to reduce bounce rates and improve UX
- Customizable via a CMS, so the client could manage their own content
- Modern but stable, using forward-thinking technologies without being experimental
- Monitorable, to track user behavior and make data-informed improvements
Our Tech Stack
We selected a combination of tools that work beautifully together:
Astro: For generating static HTML pages with optimal performance and SEO out of the box
Strapi: A headless CMS that gives the Bilt Grup team full control over their content, in three languages (Romanian, English, Hungarian)
Tailwind CSS: For fast, utility-first styling that keeps code clean and consistent
Vercel: Our deployment platform of choice, offering global delivery, built-in analytics, and CI/CD integration with webhooks from Strapi
This stack supports long-term growth, easy maintenance, and a beautiful user experience—all while keeping performance at the forefront.
3. Accessible to All, and Everywhere
A beautiful site is only useful if everyone can use it—regardless of the screen size or device they’re on. Accessibility and usability across platforms were non-negotiable.
Responsivity
We paid close attention to how the site behaves on:
- Small mobile screens, where space is limited and touch interactions matter
- Tablets, where layout must adjust gracefully between portrait and landscape
- Laptops and desktops, where users expect richer layouts and keyboard navigation
- Large monitors, often used by architects and designers, where space should be used intentionally—not wasted
The layout is fully responsive, and we ensured every element—text, imagery, navigation—adapts fluidly across devices. We also followed best practices in accessibility to make the experience as inclusive as possible, from readable font sizes to proper contrast and semantic HTML.
Multilingual Support
Bilt Grup operates in a multilingual region, so the website was designed from the ground up to support three languages:
Romanian (the default)
English (for international clients and partners)
Hungarian (for their presence in Transylvania)
Each page and article is available in all three languages, and the structure of the site ensures that search engines can index each language version properly—boosting SEO and improving discoverability for all audiences. Language switching is intuitive and seamlessly integrated into the browsing experience.
Built-In Accessibility (a11y)
We also made sure that the site is usable by people who rely on alternative browsing methods—such as screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, or voice control. That means:
Semantic HTML that gives assistive technologies the right context
Keyboard-accessible navigation and forms
Sufficient color contrast for readability
Descriptive alt text on all images and media
These details might go unnoticed by many, but they make a huge difference for users with disabilities, and they’re part of our commitment to building digital experiences that are inclusive by design.
4. Optimizing for Speed: Fast Where It Counts
We know from experience: site speed is UX. A beautiful site that loads slowly quickly becomes frustrating. For Bilt Grup, where visuals are key, we had to be smart about how we delivered content.
Techniques We Used Pre-rendered HTML: Using Astro, every page is generated at build time, reducing the need for heavy JavaScript
Lazy loading: Images and scripts load only when needed, speeding up initial page load
Responsive image optimization: We generated multiple image sizes in modern formats like WebP, tailored to the visitor’s device
Cloudflare CDN: We used Cloudfront for rapid asset delivery and caching across the globe
The result is a site that not only looks great, but loads quickly and consistently, even on slower networks or older devices.
5. The Small Details: Where the Magic Happens
While structure and performance lay the foundation, it’s the small details that give a website its character—that elevate the experience from functional to memorable.
What We Added
View Transitions: Smooth, native-feeling transitions between pages, including project thumbnails animating into their detail view
Custom selection styling: When you highlight text, the background color matches the brand’s primary tone—subtle, but delightful
Framer Motion: We used micro animations sparingly to draw attention to important elements, guide the eye, and make the site feel alive
Cohesive interaction design: From button states to scroll behavior, everything feels intentional and polished
These touches don’t scream for attention, but they create a sense of harmony and care—which reflects the client’s values and the pride they take in their own work.
Final Thoughts
For Bilt Grup, the website needed to be more than a portfolio. It had to tell a story, highlight their unique offering, and reflect their aesthetic values. By combining bold design with a modern, performant stack, we created a site that does just that—and sets them apart from the competition.
Whether viewed on a phone or a desktop, in Romanian or English or Hungarian, the site delivers a cohesive experience that mirrors the way Bilt Grup approaches every project: with discipline, ambition, and a strong sense of identity.
